1. Jinzhou New Century Quartz Glass Group (JNC Group)

General Description: Performance Institute worked closely with a Chinese privately owned Group with 8 subsidiary companies in new energy technology industries. This client has more than 1000 employees, and is specialized in quartz glass manufacturing and polysilicon purification processes.

Problem data: A family managed Group, the client has faced serious management issues and did not have the clear definitions and boundaries of responsibility set up for senior management. The Chairman has good vision for future development, but did not have clear goals and communication with senior management. Poor communication caused ambiguity in the operation and business development of the company.

Results of working with PI:PI worked closely with the Chairman to set up an implementation plan and actions for his strategy of international expansion (merger and acquisitions), assisted with investment development, advised on the building of a properly functioning Board and training program for Senior Management. PI successfully helped this client improve internal management and accelerate external development. As for operation, PI helped to improve performance of Human Resource department, helped elevate Finance Development to meet global standards and improved Marketing effectiveness. PI directly guided the setup of a properly functioning Board of Directors and prepared for and provided connections for an initial IPO launch. PI also supported international expansion, setting up an American Rep Office and facilitating acquisition projects in Poland and the U.S.

2. Jiang Su Transportation and Research Institute,Ltd.(JSTRI)

General Description: China’s largest, publicly owned, Civil Engineering Company with 15 sub-ordinary companies in Transportation and Logistics. This client has more than 2000 employees and is a consistent provider of new technology and new products to the transportation industry in China.

Problem data: This client was privatized from a stated owned entity in 2002; and faced many challenges in management and development, Performance Institute was engaged to assist with that process.

Results of working with PI:PI helped to set up and recruit their initial Board of Directors and lead the Board to international level performance in preparation for their IPO. PI facilitated training and mentoring to the key senior management and provided training lectures for employees. PI helped to improve performance of Human Resource Development and build the enterprise’ own Training University. PI also aided the Chairman to set up clear strategy and goals for international expansion and development, including movement into the United States.

  • Mentored and Coached Senior Management including the Board in transition from Government Enterprise to Private to Public Company. And prepared for globally competitive operations and preparations for possible future IPO spinoffs.
  • Served on the Board and as Board Secretary as the first foreign and first independent Board Member and Advisor to the company. This role included the proper and effective development and operations of an effective Board of Directors.
  • Created and developed the organizations’ Human Resources Training and Development University, including all of the ‘soft skills’ development beyond the technical engineering training.
  • Remain in advisement of this organization on International investment opportunities including present evaluation of significant investment into the U.S.

3.JiangSuYanning Road Technology Company-Angola Sub-ordinary Company

General Description: Consulted with a recognized Road Technology company in Jiangsu Province, China, to set up the international expansion strategy and specifically develop the African-Angola Market.

Problem data:Being new to operation in Africa, our client lacked the Human Capital and necessary key contacts on the ground in Angola to successfully launch this venture.

Results of working with PI:PI helped to direct, personal, connect with the Angola Ambassador in China to build the needed business contacts and relationships. PI directly recruited the key leadership resources for this project in both China and Angola.

4. Candis Group

General Description:Performance Institute advised an American company, operating in China to offer IT solutions to international clients doing business on the ground there.

Problem data: Additionally, due to the challenges of diversity of employees and clients, PI assisted our client’s need to offer cross-culture business training and to improve their customer service to international clients.

Results of working with PI: PI helped establish regular internal and external customer service training sessions and offered a series of workshops which created processes adopted by the management team.

5. Leadership Management International (LMI)

General Description:Performance Institute was the first multi-national distributor of training programs from Leadership Management International (LMI), in Waco, Texas, USA.

Problem data: PI developed a Chinese market for personal effectiveness and leadership training for Leadership Management International and promoted the leadership training programs in both the US and in mainland China.

Results of working with PI: LMI materials are used with private clients for a variety of hard skills development programs in coordination with general human resources activities and specific individual development plans for executive leadership and management skill development.

7. Fesco Group

PI (Russ)worked as a Chief Advisor to the Chairman of FESCO for 6 years and worked as the Managing Director of FescoFangsheng Insurance Company.

8. Romeoville Economy Development, Village of Romeoville, Illinois, USA

Other Achievments

Russ Miller of Performance Institute has served as a Chief Advisor to the Chairman of one of China’s largest direct Government owned enterprises for six years. Serving simultaneously as Managing Director of the enterprise’s national Insurance Company, in this role Russ established the Insurance Brokerage operation and served in the lead management position for the creation and launch of the company.

Performance Institute advised in the creation and development of the company’s Board of Directors and selected a pool of leaders for succession into Senior Level Management, this process included key roles in the fulfillment of the leadership and management development of these select individuals.

Special advisement of this Company leadership hinged on the ability to steer the enterprise through the process of moving from a Government owned enterprise to a publicly traded globally competitive enterprise. Russ Miller is clearly one of the few non-Chinese to ever successful serve in and complete such a project, giving him an exceptionally unique experience, insight, and specialized skill set.
